Joseph S. Baker letter and broadside, 1863.

This collection consists of a letter from Joseph S. Baker to members of the Georgia Historical Society, written from Lake City, Florida, in 1863. He encloses a broadside issued by a Jacksonville paper in 1860 entitled "An Extract From the Drama now being Acted in the United States of North America," which predicts secession. He also includes in the letter a copy of the words of "The Minute Men's March," from the Minute Men of Duval County, Florida.

Joseph S. Baker was born in Liberty County, Georgia. He moved to Quitman, Georgia; Baker spent time in Florida as an evangelist and colporteur for the Confederate States of America.
